then grounding is a good way to brings us back in the here and now: you bring clear physical sensations to your body (e.g., by stamping on the floor or washing your face with cold water) so that your attention can shift from inner images back to reality. Then we can perceive again what is really going on and we can communicate again.
There may be developmental difficulties in communication, that have to do with early childhood. There may also be systemic difficulties that originate in the larger family system.
In the pages about boundaries we mention several developmental difficulties in communication: a lack of inner boundaries may be caused by abuse or violence; a lack of autonomy may be caused by dominating parents; not knowing the limits of your responsibility may be caused by role reversal between child and parent.
